SIF is founded at least initially serve the MSME sector in Ghana and other sub-regional countries. It is headquartered in Accra, and all its full-time employees will be based in Ghana. Its founders are united by a strong bond to Ghana and desire to strengthen its MSME community and to improve the livelihoods of its people. The founders come from broad and diverse backgrounds with extensive leadership experience in development and global finance, healthcare administration, management consulting, the private sector and the tech/fintech world.

Francis Opoku-Mensah

Ghana Country Lead, Founder and Board Member

Francis has nearly twenty years of experience in MSME nurturing & entrepreneurship development, development finance, banking, agribusiness value chain development as well as impact financing. All of this has been in support of aiding MSMEs to unlock markets for sustainable financing. Francis has worked and led key developmental and sustainable livelihood improvement driven projects aimed at developing women- and youth-led MSMEs in West Africa. Francis is based in Accra with his family and actively works in West Africa sub-regional countries.

Wisdom Penni

Co-Founder and Board Member

With a diverse and dynamic career spanning 18 years both in Ghana and the United States, Penni started his professional journey in marketing honing his skills over a 6-year period. Transitioned into IT compliance with over 10 years experience in information security, and IT auditing across multiple industries. He has utilized various information security frameworks to help multinational and local firms build robust security in their environments. He consults with organizations on diverse business information security decisions and offers training as a subject matter expert in emerging cybersecurity threats. Penni lives in Richmond, Virginia, with his wife and three children

Frank Koomson

Co-Founder and Board Member

Frank has over 17 combined years of experience in agribusiness and healthcare in Ghana and the United States. He possesses a deep understanding of both agricultural and healthcare industries, leading business operations, optimizing organizational performance and driving sustainable growth and innovation. Since 2013, Frank has served as Chief Operating Officer of Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) in California and Washington State, leading strategic initiatives to promote equitable access to quality health care for low income, underserved and underprivileged populations.

Steve Nocka

Co-Founder and Board Chair

Based in Boston, Massachusetts, Nocka has had a 30+ year career in banking, development finance, management consulting, and fintech leadership with extensive work experience in the developing world, including Ghana and other countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. In recent years, he has played a lead role in the launch of numerous fintech start-ups in Asia, South and Central America, and Africa with a primary focus on lending in the developing world.
